Our dedicated team of activity co ordinators are committed to helping residents with interests and hobbies plus encouraging residents to get involved and try new things. A monthly schedule of these activities is advertised and includes everything from one to one table top games, strength and balance exercises, fun quizzes, reminiscence, creative arts and crafts to pet therapy. Weekly bookings are also arranged for outside entertainers and musicians to come to the home.
Throughout the year family and friends are encouraged to join us on special occasions when we celebrate birthdays, Saints Days, Burns Night etc. On our organised bus trips from March to November when we head off out to various places of interest. These outings are very popular with the residents and we include a bar lunch, picnic or cafe break. We try to be as flexible as possible with our various activities and often adapt to allow the use of the garden and grounds here at Moncreiffe.
The local community plays a big part too as the schools in the vicinity always invite us to their concerts and play and we receive visits from them and other community groups. The local church and village hall hold morning coffees and afternoon teas or flower shows to which we are always welcomed. Whenever possible we take advantage of the fact that the River Earn flows just behind Moncreiffe Care home and walks over the bridge or down by the river are enjoyed in good weather.
The activities team are members of the Care Home Activities Network which meets monthly to discuss new ideas with other care homes in Perth. We also attend the annual Go 4 Gold event at Bells Sports Centre. Going 4 Gold is a fun filled day with good natured competitions and games We also have our annual Fete which is open to the general public and generates a lot of local interest – especially our delicious Strawberry Teas. Many of the residents spend a great deal of time during our Arts and Craft Sessions to make things to sell at the Fete.
